Last year Free Webinar Wednesdays' co-founder Eric Cook was on-site in Charlotte, NC with All-In to Fight Cancer's co-founder Steve Amedio to talk about this unique event and how they are making a difference in the local cancer community (2014 show link). It's an unfortunate fact of life, but chances are you've been "touched" by the "C-word" at some point in your live, whether it's been a family member, friend, co-worker or even yourself personally.
Whatever your experience with cancer may be, if you've experienced it in any way you likely have asked yourself what you could do to help make a difference. Sure, you can make a donation or maybe participate in an event, but Steve, along with the co-founder, friend and unfortunate cancer victim, Rob Eubank, they wanted to do more. Rob's legacy lives on with the annual All-In to Fight Cancer event and since 2010 has raised over $350,000 to support the local community's fight against cancer.
While Eric's ability to play Texas Hold'em has much to be desired, being part of the event as one of 600 participants was an amazing experience. One of the most inspirational moments of the evening came at the beginning when Steve told the story of Tanner and Pam story. Tanner was at the 2013 event as a player, but unknown to him and everyone else at the time, he was sitting there as an un-diagnosed cancer patient. Pam was there as well representing one of the benefitting organizations that provides services to newly diagnosed cancer patients. The video below captures the story of what brought Tanner and Pam back together for what would become the fight of his life.
Be sure to join us this week when we catch up with Steve and get an update on the 2015 event and what's in store for All-In this year. Oh, and if anyone out there has any good poker tips, send 'em along... Eric could use some help!
