To most people the thought of running a marathon (or even a 10k), cycling a century (that's 100 miles) or even doing a day hike in the woods may seem like a rather daunting undertaking. Not for this week's guest, Kathy Roche-Wallace. This mild-mannered, yet amazing mother of six (and grandmother of two) has competed (and completed) some of the world's most challenging events and will be joining us to share her story.
From her early days running in local 5k and 10k races, she quickly moved to competing in triathlons (completing in the IronMan Hawaii event) and then got the appetite for adventure racing. She and her oldest daughter were the first mother-daughter to race the Primal Quest and has since gone on to complete triple "Iron" distance races, 100 mile trail runs and recently set the record for 50+ women in the 3,000 mile Race Across America (RAAM) cycling event.
As you can imagine, along the way Kathy has learned some valuable lessons that she will be sharing with our Free Webinar Wednesday audience. Join us this week as we hear some of her insights on competition, preparation and general outlook on life and how anyone can overcome the obstacles that are set before them if they just focus on the task at hand and have faith and believe in themselves. You don't need to be an athletic phenom like Kathy to take away some valuable lessions from this week's session, just an open mind and willingness to believe in yourself.
Follow-Up
Thanks again to Kathy for her insight during today's session. One of the key elements that she shared was the F.A.C.E. principle and how it plays a part in all of the successes she's had over the years. I promised I'd add them below, so here you go...
- Focus on what you want to accomplish, not what you are trying to avoid. By focusing your effort on the positive, you'll be more successful.
- Allow yourself to fail. Take lessons out of each experience and you'll know what to do differently next time.
- Courage to get out of your comfort zone. Push yourself to try something different and expand your horizons.
- Embrace the NOW. There are too many "other things" to worry about and you'll get bogged down if you don't concentrate on what is before you at the present time.
-Well said, Kathy!
